DT135 Admin password reset
« on: March 04, 2010, 04:20:28 PM »
Our admin password is not working anymore.  I fear someone has changed the password and failed to update the note on the printer.  Is there any way to reset it?  I need to update the date and time and can't do it without admin access.  The machine has been unplugged for a while.

do you have one you can loan out or do I need to find a tech in my area to service it.  I just got the printer from a shop that closed and I can't get a hold of any of the previous operators.

Thanks,

Mike

I have a "new in the wrapper" diagnostic tape that I would sell for $500.   It's v 3.5

Not Exactly.
You can reset with a tape, however, it is not needed.
there is another way, although I would not expect a non-experienced person should do it.

with tape:
dC 5 CSE Or Security Administrator Unable To Log On
Using Password
Purpose
The purpose is to change the Service and Security Administrator passwords in order to log on.
This procedure only should be used when the CSE or Security Administrator is unable to log
on using the recommended CSE or Security Administrator ID and Password.
Procedure
NOTE: The CSE should adhere to dC 4 procedure.
1. Boot the diagnostic tape to menu.
2. Enter Option 3 CHANGE SECURITY FILE.
3. Enter selection1 Reset CSE Logon ID/Password or selection 2 Reset Security Administrator
Logon ID/Password. Confirm the selection.
NOTE: ID/Passwords are initialized to their default values. CSE=555555/123456.
Security Administrator=123456/123456.

Ron got me through it!  Yes there is a back door by changing params on nvram and it boots like it is in diag mode and you are able to reset the admin and service passwords.  THANK YOU RON!  now I just need to get my sparc station on my network...but that will be another post.
