We're acquired a pallet of X86 servers, re-cased them in new cases, added a second processor and more memory. These are perfect replacements for those old, tired Ultra 2 and Ultra 60 servers.
These newer servers have a lot of advantages over the Sun Blades, not least of which is, this is the direction that Xerox is going. Large drives hold your customer's jobs at the server for quick reprint, DVD writer.
There are a lot of bargains in DocuTechs/DocuPrints right now, I see very nice machines, some with interposers, for less than $5K. Invariably, they come with an Ultra 2 or Ultra 60 server. which greatly diminishes their value. The machines with Blades or newer sell very quickly.
This is a very fast server, about twice as fast as the Sun Blade in the standard Xerox configuration. It's well suited to ripping variable data jobs.
