DOCUSP 3.74 error code C03-308

Hi...

Does anybody here experience this when you try to print a document and have DocuSP layout in 2up registration / repeat image?

Been having a bad day with this code a couple of days ago...drives me nuts...Tried different adobe presets and options on generating the PDF file...

The only solution that worked was to PRINT as PDF file in INdesign...and not using the ADOBE PRESETS...although preflighting the generated PDF using ADOBE presets doesn't seem to have any problem...

Any ideas what's wrong with it?

Old software.   3.74 is about ten years old.  C03-308 is a garbage can code, any number of non-specific faults are assigned this code.  Basically, it means:  "I have no idea what your problem is, but I agree you have a problem".

 At least you have 3.74  :)

If you're running an Ultra 60 you could go to 42, same license set.   A Blade, to 53  -you'll need new licensing.

3.74 is really 6 years old, not 10.
But it would seem that there is a problem in the PS being generated, try another ps3 driver such as one for the n40, or print as image if you are making many copies of one book.
Dsp 42 is the most stable version i have run across, 3.74 isn't terrible, but 3.8 isn't as good. There is probably a Spar for that, but it won't be available.

I stand corrected  (attachment).

It MAY be just a driver issue, true, but we were at Acrobat 5 when 3.74 came out, now we're at 9, Win98 and Win2000 were the predominant Microsoft OS' feeding the servers.  Now we're trying to get the Win 7 drivers to work;  it's never ending..

I still have a fondness for 42, it was a very solid platform with a lot of features.  But, if you have the box for it, it seems that the newer software is best.

C03-308 software faults occurs when certain binary PostScript jobs are submitted to the printer. The fault is raised instead of a postscript error when a "bad" postscript file is submitted.

That's one possibility out of a couple hundred.

 See attached. 

My point was, the frequency of C03-308's has been vastly reduced by the newer versions of DocuSP.  Every new version has had a SPAR (or several)  that addressed some software issue that generated a C03-308
