WCP90 Print Quality & Feeding
« on: January 16, 2010, 10:43:59 PM »
I've got two questions about the WorkCentre Pro 90 and I was wondering if anyone out there who knows the machine could help?

The first question is about the print quality (not copying, straight PostScript printing) of photographs... How does this engine compare, say to the Nuvera (at the top of the scale) and the WCP55 (at the middle) and a simple B&W desktop printer (at the bottom) in terms of grayscale quality?

And, regarding the paper feeders in the built-in trays... Do they use a three-roller design (nudger, take-away, and reversing retard roller on the bottom) or do they use a cork strip or clip or some other method of preventing double-feeds?

Thanks very much!

I haven't seen an example of the Nuvera output but the WCP 90 is very good on halftones and photographs. The feed system is a 3 roll design.

The Lakes family hardware has no on board diagnostics and a PWS with the proper diagnostic software is an absolute necessity to maintain and service the machine..Back in the days when I was still working for a living I was a specialist on the machine but have been out of the loop for quite a while..Would be willing to give you any help that I can though..

I agree...the halftones and the solids that come out of a WCP 90 are good...even the operators like them. The feed system is all rollers...that the customer can change...and HFSI parts are cheap.
