Fiery X12 problem
« on: February 08, 2010, 02:42:36 PM »
Symptom:

Not have any message on display, or when put monitor on, monitor just stay
off. Take out all card`s only left video board and no message on monitor,
dead. Like motherboard not powering at all.

-Replace motherboard - 140N05286, with new processor and BIOS chip base
version - 537N00124, have message on monitor but not on Fiery display.

-Replace ix uib pwb part#140N5279, got message on both.

-Start system reinstall with 2 CD. Pass both CD, but when start to
booting, or creating backup, or loading, just stop and not going at all.
Every time different. Try with other CD`s same.

-Few times write on monitor blue screen with message: Beginning Dump of
Physical Memory..

-replace HDD and start again all with BIOS restart..., again same. Install
system on HDD on other Fiery and put it in this, just loading...

-Order and replace memory: DIMM - 128MB; 140N05278. Now installation pass
only ones, but after reboot, again loading.., or beginning dump of
physical memory...

-Restart BIOS again and try to reload software again but same.

-Rotate place for card`s inside the Fiery. Finally sequence is firs video
board then on PCI 1st empty because of Fiery printer/copier board on 2nd,
and 3rd ix uib pwb and down is network card.

-Try all parts on old motherboard, but I just get one more dead ix uib
pwb, order new again, and replace.

Again same loading..., or blue screen and Beginning Dump of Physical
Memory..
Few time I got opened windows NT but with message press ctrl-alt-del to
log on, then At least one service or driver failed during system startup.
Use event to examine the event log for details.

Why not just buy a "new", working Fiery?
They show up regularly on EBAY for $500 or less . . .

Message: "At least one service or driver failed during system startup" is no problem. that is normal.

Blue screen, can happend from faulty hardware or software problem.

what version do you have? last software version for Fiery X12 is v1.5 sp2.

about hardware, if you have changed more of devices and problem still exist, try with another POWER SUPPLY (may be +5V,+12V or another voltage is out of range)

let me know progress of repairs

Hey Drag , I think what the Laserguy was trying to say in a polite way was  "sometimes its cheaper to purchase a working fiery then  to keep piling money into something that may never work again .

I bet you can find a used X12 for a couple hundred dollars from a Xertech member or ebay .
" If there's a new way
  I'll be first in line
But it better work this time"

hi Drag,
Let me know, what version of software for Fiery X12 do you have?
did you put brand new motherboard or used one? (check capacitors around CPU for fault)
for X12 this is TYAN motherboard. You can donwload bios file from Tyan support page, write on eprom, put in motherboard and you will have ordinary PC. now you can install WinXP and execute some diagnostic software to check all components (memory, motherboard, cpu, HD and etc.)
When you  install Windows XP, if blue screen disappear, that you have software problem.
i have all bios for X12. Let me know if you wanted.
